Kenya Gititu NH
DESCRIPTION
Blueberry compote, hibiscus, and cara-cara orange. A Kenyan natural with a fruit density that feels almost jammy, and the structure and acidity Nyeri is known for.
This lot comes from Gititu Factory, one of the mills run by Aguthi Farmers Cooperative Society in the foothills of Mount Kenya, at 1,600 to 1,850 metres. Ripe cherry is hand sorted, then dried whole on raised beds over several weeks, turned regularly so it dries evenly. The long dry time pushes the cup toward cooked compote and orange rather than the brighter citrus of a typical washed Kenyan, while the SL28 and SL34 varietals keep their blackcurrant-toned acidity underneath.
Works on filter and espresso. On filter it opens into the full fruit range as it cools. On espresso the blueberry and hibiscus concentrate into something richer and syrupy, and it holds up well with milk.
